Cagliari and Sassari are among the cities where the presence of the homeless and homeless is most significant .

And we're only talking about those registered in the registry office "photographed" by Istat, who number 96,197 throughout Italy . Of these, 38% are foreigners, in over half of the cases from Africa. They are mostly men with an average age of 41.6 years, which rises to 45.5 considering only Italians.

"The inclusion in the survey of the homeless and homeless is a positive sign, aimed at giving visibility and recognition also to segments of populations that tend to be statistically difficult", explains Fio.psd, federation of organizations for the homeless.

The homeless people surveyed are resident in 2,198 Italian municipalities, but 50% concentrated in six municipalities: Rome dominates with 23% and over 22 thousand people, followed by Milan (9%), Naples (7%), Turin ( 4.6%), Genoa (3%) and Foggia (3.7%) .

In Naples, the share of women is particularly high (10% of the total women surveyed) and the presence of foreigners is much more limited than in other large municipalities (8.6% against around 60% in Rome, Milan and Florence).

Other Municipalities in which the presence of homeless and homeless foreigners is significant are Trieste, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Alessandria, Como, Savona, Venice, Brescia, Marsala, Catania, Sassari and Cagliari .

The homeless and the homeless are those who are registered in the registry at a fictitious residence address and at the address of the associations that work in their support (homeless), and those who, despite not having a usual place of residence, elect their domicile in the municipality where they usually live (homeless).

Fio.psd warns that the data are underestimated, because «a third of the homeless are not registered in the registry office. In particular, these are irregular foreigners who therefore remain excluded from the census survey".
