"You don't sell off a strategic asset." The Socialist Party, with regional secretary Gianfranco Lecca, weighs in on the risk of privatizing Cagliari-Elmas Airport. "The PSI firmly opposes the idea of handing over the management of our airports to a single private entity. This isn't just a corporate takeover, but a political surrender of a vital public asset," Lecca emphasizes.
For the Sardinian Socialist Party secretary: "Turning what is essential to the life of an island region into a commodity means abdicating political responsibility. Air transport in Sardinia is not a luxury; it is a right to mobility, territorial protection, and economic and social continuity." He also said: "Entrusting the keys to this system to a single private entity, which already holds a dominant position in the Olbia and Alghero airports, means creating an oligopoly that responds to the market, not to the citizens."
Gianfranco Lecca adds: "As Socialists, we state clearly: airports must remain public. Just like healthcare, schools, and other vital infrastructure for the community. The logic of profit cannot replace the logic of service."
