A trickle of water comes out of the taps, not enough to do the dishes, much less to wash. The inhabitants of Giorgino are furious. The situation, they claim, has been going on for about twenty days. They say they have sent several certified emails to Abbanoa, with no positive results. They say they are ready to go en masse in front of the company headquarters with water cans in hand. Even the restaurants on the beach have been closed since the problem began.
Arianna Stara is part of the cooperative that manages "Non solo mare", as well as being an inhabitant of the fishing village.
"Keeping the business closed all this time is a loss, especially on weekends when we work more," she says. "In our homes, then, both to wash the dishes and to take a shower we have to heat the water - the bottled one - in the pots. To wash my hair I go to the hairdresser twice a week. I can't do otherwise."
A neighbor of his, Martina Dotta, adds : "You can't go all these days with a trickle of water. We pay our Abbanoa bills on time, we demand the service." Vincenzo Belgiorno has two elderly parents who also live in the fishing village "and I have to take them almost every day to the house in Capoterra to allow them to have a proper shower. We are all furious, Abbanoa must hurry and solve the problem."
Mariano Strazzeri, president of the neighborhood committee, echoes him: «The endurance has reached its limit» . The company replies: «Using special equipment, the breaking point was identified at the origin of the pipeline, in Viale La Plaia, near the Fish Market. The intervention is already scheduled for the next few days».
