A 63-year-old from Cabras was sentenced to two years for mistreatment of his ex-wife. The man will also have to pay a commission of two thousand euros.

The story emerged a few years ago when the 59-year-old woman from Cabras found the courage to report an endless escalation of physical and psychological violence, complete with threats with a rifle.

For seventeen years he had silently endured beatings and humiliation, as he told the judges. Married since 1984, after an initial period of tranquility, violent and excessively possessive attitudes began.

Then a crescendo of physical abuse, with insults, heavy threats and even mortifications of a sexual nature. The ex-husband, defended by the lawyer Rinaldo Saiu, was authoritarian, he only allowed her to go out to go to work then she had to stay at home and look after the children.

The woman, assisted by the lawyer Cristina Puddu, reported in the courtroom that he had even prevented her from going to her sister's funeral. Furthermore, he claimed to manage the money that the woman earned from her job, while after losing his job he carried on with some odd jobs.

A difficult situation, which continued until 2017 when the woman reported the hell she had ended up in to the police. Then the legal battle, which ended with the conviction issued by judge Marco Mascia.
