This time they also brought cages. And someone even managed to stay inside . New sit-in in the seaside village of San Giovanni di Sinis to ask for a stop to the killing of wild boars planned by the province of Oristano in collaboration with Forestas, the Forestry Corps, Asl and Ispra.
The associations Lav, Animal Voices United and Avi took to the field. The animal rights activists hung several banners with the words "Enough with this useless cruelty" written on them. This time they did not tie themselves to trees like the other times, but above the metal fences that delimit one of the construction sites present at the beginning of the archaeological area of Tharros, where the new access point to the ancient ruins will be built.
The animal rights activists also played the audio that reproduced the suffering of the animals after being hit . Then they took the megaphone in hand to tell the many passers-by their opposition to the intervention. Thanks to the beautiful sunny day in San Giovanni, there were many people present. And many slowed down to listen to the reasons for the protest.
The spokesperson for the group, Josephine Scanu , speaks from the cage on behalf of the wild boars: «There has never been an attack on people or domestic animals. It's true, we dig, they created us to do this, but when there is danger we run away, we do nothing else». Scanu then doubles down: « Four days of massacres have already been organised for a total of 17 wild boars killed . Yet there are many other methods to drive these animals away, such as feed that stops the heat for 5 years, or even electric fences and deterrents. There is no way that crazy people hide behind bushes at night and then shoot. There is no invasion, only cruelty. Wild boars are wild boars according to their nature».
Meanwhile in the village the ditches that are dug in the streets and flowerbeds are evident. Many also the damaged doors. In the morning there is then the invasion of waste in the street: the animals in search of food open the bags of waste placed in the entrances of the houses.
