Everything is ready for the start , on November 15 , of the renovation and expansion works of the Businco operating block in Cagliari .

As already announced, the intervention , which can count on an allocation of 9 million euros from the PNRR funds , concerns the renovation of two existing operating rooms and the construction of two new ones.

"The start of the works - they say from Arnas Brotzu - will require a significant organizational effort and the company management has been committed to identifying solutions that have the least possible impact on the work of the operators and at the same time guarantee safety and assistance for the patients". The proposed program "will allow Arnas employees to guarantee assistance to patients by ensuring the same number of surgical interventions currently performed . The fear, raised by many in recent days, of the transfer of patients from one facility to another has been averted ".

«Currently – they specify from Arnas Brotzu – the oncology hospital has three operating rooms: block F which houses two of them , in addition to the offices of the Management of the Presidio, will be completely renovated to allow the creation of four operating rooms, all equipped and with adequate support spaces, to guarantee maximum safety and efficiency for surgical activities. The offices will instead be housed in block G».

The use of the remaining operating room, currently used exclusively for pain therapy, will instead be "shared with breast surgery and with the anesthesia and resuscitation structure for the positioning of venous access for oncological therapies. This will allow the current number of scheduled interventions not to be changed".

As already announced, the transfer to San Michele for Oncological Gynecology and Thoracic Surgery is planned, whose operations were guaranteed by the activity of the two rooms that will be renovated. And also in this case - the health company specifies - " the program provides for the maintenance of the number of scheduled operations ".

As for hospitalization , Gynecology Oncology "will be able to use the two current locations" , while Thoracic Surgery will instead find a location "for the hospitalization of patients in the north wing of the seventh floor of San Michele , and the same number of surgical interventions scheduled in the operating rooms of the same facility will be guaranteed". Also planned is "an area for thoracic endoscopy activity, equipped with new generation instruments recently acquired by the Company, located in an area on the fifth floor".

The plan – Brotzu specifies – «was communicated and shared with the Department Directors who, during the meeting of the Board of Directors, held on October 18, positively evaluated the organizational plan presented». Yesterday, however, the meeting with the unions took place, at the end of which a «health/technical comparison was proposed between the company and the representatives of the facilities subject to organizational replanning in order to identify a shared path, which takes into account the needs of the patients and employees involved in the reorganization process».
