"We ask for the immediate freezing of the project to renovate the operating rooms at Businco ." It is a long note signed by important associations that represent many cancer patients and others - Socialismo Diritti Riforme Odv, Fidapa Cagliari, Komunque Donne, Lilt, Cittadinanzattiva, Maipiusole contro il cancro, Salute donna, Sinergia femminile, Garante metropolitano delle persone depriva della libertà - who have met with the President of the Regional Council Piero Comandini on the issue and are considering a public demonstration and a report to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

"The "Businco" has a history of being at the forefront in breast care, gynecology and pain therapy. It cannot be sacrificed for purposes that are not entirely clear . We believe that the decisions of Arnas Brotzu cannot be unilateral. We ask for the project to be frozen", they underline. "We support the need to promote a regional conference with health workers and patients so that the authority of the Hospital in crisis is recognized and reaffirmed due to unfortunate decisions by the Management that have favored the flight of many specialists and private healthcare".

The announced closure of the operating rooms, "for a necessary restructuring, cannot be done by ignoring reality. Patients are not willing to live in uncertainty for the next 2/3 years and to accept a plan that, rather than reorganizing and modernizing the Businco, seems to prelude its definitive closure. For those who aspire to quality medical care, a long period of health emigration looms and those who do not have the means to cover the costs will have to resign themselves to the worst".
The transfer of Thoracic Surgery, Gynecology and, in fact, the cancellation of the Operating Room intended for Pain Therapy - they continue - will compromise the hospital's care system, considered an irreplaceable facility. Furthermore, the situation at Brotzu does not seem to offer all the guarantees that could reassure patients. We cannot forget the serious episode of the blackout that caused an emergency of which we do not even know the very serious consequences. We have heard disheartening news of patients transferred from one facility to another like postal packages, forcing them once again to suffer serious inconveniences and to see, in large part, their life project ruined".
