Stuck on a boat for hours, adrift in the sea , with the wind blowing her perilously out to sea. But, just when all seemed lost, an angel appeared: a Sardinian fisherman, who spotted and recovered it, bringing it back to earth . And who, once rescued, also rant about the risks that vacationers and boaters too often underestimate.

The dangerous mishap that occurred during her last holiday in Sardinia was told by the South African chef Prue Leith , 82, a well-known face in the United Kingdom as a judge of the popular TV program dedicated to cooking Great British Bake Off.

«I was relaxing on a boat in the sea in the north of the island - the restaurateur told The Mirror tabloid - when suddenly the wind picked up . So I decided to go back in, but the engine wouldn't restart. And when the wind picked up, taking me out to sea, I got worried and began to feel like the protagonist of a novel, one of those that don't end well».

Since the shore was in sight, the distressed chef even tried waving her arms around to get the attention of beachgoers . But – he explained – his attempts to ask for help were interpreted as simple greetings.

A frustrating and surreal situation, in short. Beyond disturbing.

After many hours, a fisherman appears, who has spotted and rescued her. And who didn't give up on scolding her harshly: «He was very angry - recalls Leith - and while he was saving me he said to me: 'You tourists! You risk your life! If I hadn't arrived you could have found yourself in Corsica!' ».

«While he was saying this to me, I felt thirsty and tried. But looking back on it – concludes the chef – that fisherman was right: I was really foolish to underestimate the risk» .
