The sentence to life imprisonment with daytime isolation for six months has been confirmed. The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Cagliari has pronounced the sentence which reiterates the sentence of life imprisonment against the breeder Fabio Fois, 58 year old from Girasole, accused of the murder of Fabio Longoni and the attempted murder of Daniele Conigiu.

After an hour and a half in the council chamber, followed by the replies of the Attorney General Luigi Patronaggio and the defender Marcello Caddori, the Second Instance Court presided over by Judge Massimo Costantino Poddighe (with Alessandro Castello alongside) read in the courtroom the operative part of the sentence which fully accepts the requests of the prosecution and the civil parties, the lawyers Bruno and Paolo Pilia with Marzia Graziano.

Fois is accused of being the killer who on 22 November 2017 carried out the ambush in the Villagrande Strisaili countryside , firing shots at the two farmers : one was killed, the other managed to escape even if hit in the leg by a buckshot.

As a motive, the Prosecutor had reiterated that it would have been revenge for the theft of two donkeys carried out the previous year and admitted by Daniele Conigiu, who was injured.

The speech by the lawyer Caddori was long and passionate, certain of the innocence of his client, who will now await the reasons for the decision to present an appeal to the Cassation. The sentence was accepted in silence in the substitute courtroom which hosted the Court of Assisse of appeal because the main one was not usable due to the excessive heat of the temperatures.

The defendant was present next to his defender, as were the victim's family members with the civil party lawyers.
