Sardinia in the dark. It's not just Cyclone Harry and the bad weather that's to blame; constant outages, aging networks, and neglected maintenance are the cause of widespread blackouts across the island . Thousands of Sardinians in dozens of municipalities are experiencing disruption.

Cagliari is a case in point: lights have been out in streets and homes in many neighborhoods in recent days. But problems are being reported in Sulcis , where mayors are on the warpath against Enel distribution ; in Barbagia , where even telephones are silent in Gennargentu ; and in Ogliastra . ANCI President Daniela Falconi is protesting: this cannot continue.
It is estimated that in the South of the Island, power cuts reach an annual average of 105 continuous minutes per user .
