The Sardinian Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has rejected an urgent appeal by the Region regarding the project by the Italian-Brazilian company Tavolara Bay in Cala Finanza (a location of great environmental value on the Porto San Paolo coast).

Administrative judges had been asked to suspend the permits issued to the company by the national government under the simplified procedure for the Southern Italy Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The permit remains in place pending the next hearing by the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) on the merits of the preliminary injunction, scheduled for early July.

Tavolara Bay has the sole authorization for the construction of an equipped area , without increasing the volume, on a site of approximately ten hectares around the former Villa Leone (a property acquired by the real estate company controlled by the giant Jhsf Participações).

The company itself has informed the judges that it does not intend to proceed with the work until a ruling on the merits has been issued . The Council of Ministers also recently rejected the Sardinian Region's objections ; it was the Councilor for Local Government and Urban Planning, Francesco Spanedda, who announced an urgent appeal to the Regional Administrative Court (TAR), which has so far been rejected.
