From 2018 to 2022 in Italy, bank branches decreased by 17.4% (-4,423). Municipalities served by banks fell by 10.9% (-583). Sardinia is also no exception: in recent years, in fact, there has been a slow but progressive distancing of the banking system from the territory.

It was discussed today in Cagliari during the Sardinian stage of the Uilca campaign against banking desertification: Branch closures? No, thanks, which has been crossing the entire national territory since the beginning of the year.

«Our campaign wants to create the conditions for there to be a broad debate and to gain awareness on a topic that has negative implications in social and not just economic terms», states Uilca general secretary Fulvio Furlan, «the initiative wants to turn the spotlight on on a problem that must concern everyone and for the resolution of which every social subject can and must do something".
