The Botanical Garden of the University of Cagliari ended 2024 with a record number of visitors. In the year that is about to end, an influx of 90 thousand visitors was recorded, an increase that, added to the values of 2023, led to an increase for the two-year period of over 20 thousand visitors. «Thanks to the creation of numerous initiatives and the new collections inserted in the spaces of the Garden», comments the director, Annalena Cogoni, «and to the determination with which the communication and scientific dissemination actions were carried out throughout the year. A thank you therefore goes to all the staff in service, who with passion and professionalism guaranteed an overall offer of a high level».

The service of guided tours and educational workshops, strengthened in the last two years, has registered a notable increase, contributing to making the Botanical Garden one of the favorite places for educational trips for schools of all levels. In the new year, the Hortus Botanicus Karalitanus Service Center intends to promote meetings and debates on the management of urban greenery and the importance of trees in the social context as elements of identity of the territory.

The construction of a greenhouse to house a collection of orchids will be one of the new developments of the new year that will expand the attractions of the Botanical Garden.
