The fire that broke out last Sunday, which particularly affected the countryside between Sindia and Macomer, seriously damaged the Trenino Verde railway line, burning hundreds of wooden sleepers. The consequences are disastrous, as, once again, the Trenino Verde has been forced to stop, awaiting repairs by ARST, which are unlikely to happen anytime soon.

"I believe the tourist season for the little green train is over," says Carlo Poledrini, general director of ARST. "The damage caused by the fire is enormous, and the line won't be restored anytime soon. We're assessing the damage and the potential repair costs. In any case, I don't think the travel schedule can be maintained, at least for this year." This is yet another disruption to the little train, with the Esedra cooperative forced to cancel trips along the route between Macomer and Tresnuraghes, severely impacting bookings. "We are forced to cancel tourist contracts acquired with foreign tour operators," says President Rossana Muroni. "A curse that afflicts this line, which is still suffering the repercussions of the 2021 fire. This situation forces us into an extremely critical position. All our efforts are being undermined by a situation that severely impacts our business, as we are forced to cancel contracts and therefore the Green Train journeys along the Macomer and Bosa lines. We are helpless in the face of this situation. There is nothing we can do other than urge."
