“Bookolica” in Scano Montiferro: starting Friday the 17th

Bookolica, the festival of creative readers, comes to Scano Montiferru, the leading municipality and organizer, to enliven the town with stories, investigations, and reader-focused workshops. For this eighth edition, the literary festival offers short stories, investigative journalism, words, and inconvenient truths on the most pressing environmental, political, and economic issues in Italy, featuring leading Italian journalists and prominent writers from the cultural scene.
The event opens on Friday, October 17th, in the churchyard of the parish of San Pietro at 6:30 PM. Half an hour after the first event, the talk on football and fandom, "Il Braccetto di destra," featuring writers and journalists Alessandro Sanna, Valerio Moggia, and Fabio Ornano, will present a sports bar combining counter-attacking language and popular culture. After dinner, at 9:30 PM, the parish steps will host the presentation of the book "Gigi Riva, un amore di contrabbando" by Nicola Muscas, in conversation with Paolo Faragò. An hour later, the talk on investigative journalism, "Te lo meritori Alberto Sordi," featuring Pablo Sole, will be held. The first day closes with "Land excape expanse," a live multimedia performance featuring Gavino Ganau, Giovanni Dibeltulu, Italowski, and Tore Addis.
Saturday the 18th begins with an open assembly at 4:00 PM, featuring the Sardinian National Assembly, a public meeting with the population on community and active participation, held on the parish steps. Two hours later, live music with Stefano Pilia Solo. At 7:00 PM, the polyphonic monologue "Perpetual Revolt" by Johnny Costantino. Also in the same location, the discussion "Unequal Development: Territory, Colonialism, Localism" with Massimo Carta, Irene Frau, and Walter Falgio. At 10:00 PM, "Diagnosing the Energy Transition, in the Name of Progress," a panel on those who govern energy and inherit its scars, featuring Piero Loi, Ilenia Ruggiu, Martina Loi, Mauro Bonaiuti, and Antonio Flore.
On Sunday, October 19, Bookolica concludes with a day dedicated to tradition and experimentation, featuring music talks and shared imaginations. At 12:30 pm in the parish of San Pietro, the concert "Canto a tasgia" by the Gavino Gabriel choir of Tempio Pausania, "Lean Listening for Crooked Hearts." At 3 pm at the Zac youth center, the fantastical drawing and design workshop for children up to 11 years old, titled "Cities for Stray Dogs," with Luïze Pastore, in collaboration with Latvian Literature. Also at the center, at 5 pm, the children's storytelling workshop "A Thousand and One Fairy Tales" by Elena Morando, "Picciuné for Children," creative freedom, and outdoor education. At the same time, the digital guerrilla talk "Liberare il mio smartphone per liberare me stesso" with Kenobit will take place on the parish steps. An hour later, Valentina Corona will speak about judgment and social danger, and the criminalization of climate activism with Extinction Rebellion Italia. At 7 pm in the parish steps, join Marco Lutzu and Diego Pani for music and minority languages as a form of resistance, "Doin' damage in my native language." The grand finale at 8 pm features Kenobit and his 8-bit Game Boy live set, featuring minimal techno and pure hardware.
Creative storytelling and drawing workshops for kids, all held at the ZAC youth center, help them discover the power of words, images, and stories, and create new ones. Bookolica is a project of the Bottega NoMADE Association, promoted by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Tempio Pausania, the Municipality of Scano di Montiferro, the IAA Chamber of Commerce of Sassari, and the Fondazione di Sardegna.
