In Sardinia a united front is forming against the attack on the Sos Enattos mine in Lula .

Only voices of condemnation were raised after an unexploded bomb was found this morning in front of the entrance to the Sar Grav laboratory of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics . The structure – which houses the equipment of the “ Archimedes ” project – is a candidate to host the Einstein Telescope , the apparatus for studying gravitational waves.

Solinas. The president of the Region Christian Solinas immediately condemned what happened in the mine: «The Einstein Telescope represents an indispensable opportunity for our island and for the entire country. Any gesture aimed at preventing the realization of the project for the study of gravitational waves in Sos Enattos is an act against Sardinia and against the Sardinians". The governor then confirmed his "full solidarity with Lula, with the citizens and administrators, with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and with the realities involved in the project".

Saiu. The regional councilor for public works, Pierluigi Saiu, is also of the same opinion: «We are moving forward with the project more convinced than ever, confirming all the commitments made to strengthen Sardinia's candidacy for the Einstein Telescope project. The possibility that this gesture may have been carried out against its realization arouses indignation, but it will not make us retreat a step. The scientific project of the ET is of strategic importance for our region and for Italy, anyone who wants to prevent its realization goes against the interests of all Sardinians and has no heart for the future of our island".

Lai. "It could have turned into a tragedy and fortunately, now, we can only speak of an act of intimidation", this is the first reaction of the deputy of the Pd Silvio Lai, to the news of the discovery. «The investigators will carry out the investigations and we also hope that the perpetrators of these criminal acts will be promptly brought to justice. It is necessary that with absolute meticulousness we quickly reach clarifying conclusions», underlines Lai.

CGIL. «Those who carried out the cowardly act of intimidation must know that nothing can or will be able to slow down the consensus and unity of purpose of Sardinia and of the entire national scientific community around the candidacy of Sos Enattos to host the Einstein Telescope. The union is confident in the investigations that will be carried out to identify those responsible and in the countermeasures that will certainly be taken immediately to ensure that the whole area is brought under control and under maximum security". Thus the secretary of the CGIL Sardinia Fausto Durante who forcefully relaunched the request to the president of the Region to build a Sardinian committee involving social forces, businesses, the best resources of the academic world and scientific research: «This is a way to give strength to the candidacy".
Municipality of Bitti. Giuseppe Ciccolini, the mayor of Bitti expressed the closeness of his Municipality to that of Lula, recalling that the Einstein Telescope project is strongly supported by the local communities: «I hope there is no link between the attack on the Sos Enattos site to Lula and the candy for the realization of the Einstein Telescope project. I therefore hope that clarity will soon be clarified on this serious fact, which absolutely must not be underestimated. What happened today must commit us with greater determination for a more convinced candidacy in view of achieving the final objective. As administrator of the territory, I express all my solidarity and closeness to the numerous stakeholders involved in the international research program".

Municipality of Nuoro. Solidarity also expressed to the mayor of Nuoro, Andrea Soddu: «We are close to the mayor of Lula Mario Calia. We condemn the serious act of intimidation carried out in the Son Enattos mine, precisely in the place where, thanks to studies and research, an international atmosphere can already be seen and breathed, a desire to do, discover and build our future".

Confartigianato Sardinia. «It is a very serious fact, on which full light must be shed as soon as possible. No one must be allowed to damage the island and the whole of Italy. We are confident that the institutions of the Republic and all citizens will be able to react promptly and effectively to isolate those who violate the rules of civil coexistence". Thus Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, on behalf of the 35,000 Sardinian artisan businesses that point the finger at what happened to Lula. «We are at the side of those involved in the project, whether they are administrators, politicians, scientists and ordinary citizens, and we will strive to ensure that everyone can continue to work peacefully in a healthy area and in a region that wants to grow, and with great prospects for development and rebirth», concluded by the Association of Artisans.
