A motorboat carrying four men - two from Campania and two from Sardinia - ended up against the rocks in the waters of the Bisce island, behind Caprera , in the La Maddalena archipelago.

Two are dead, one is Tommy Di Chello, a 40-year-old from Golfo Aranci, the other is from Campania, while two are injured who have suffered various fractures, including Carlo Nieddu , also from Golfo Aranci. One is in very serious condition .

The boat, a Fisherman , is half sunk. From what has emerged so far, it had left from Cannigione , and is owned by a Neapolitan man.

Today the group was probably on a trip, a short vacation during these festive days. They had also brought fishing gear.

The first to intervene on the spot was a private boat, then patrol boats recovered the victims and wounded, taking them to the dock at La Maddalena.

The Coast Guard was at the scene.

The causes of what happened are to be ascertained, the weather conditions were excellent, the sea was flat . Perhaps whoever was at the controls was betrayed by the poor visibility due to the time of the crash, the sunset. But they are the first hypotheses.

Certainly the Fisherman crashed violently against the rocks and the occupants ended up in the sea. The first to intervene and raise the alarm were two individuals who were in that area on a rubber dinghy.

Then the two patrol boats of the Coast Guard arrived, which coordinated the rescue, and the 118 personnel.

The two wounded, in a confused state, were taken to hospital in La Maddalena.

The motorboat, semi-sunk, was recovered by a specialized firm. The Prosecutor of Tempio Pausania has opened an investigation.

« A moment of great sadness for the community , these are absurd tragedies – the words of Fabio Lai, mayor of La Maddalena -. In this case, unfortunately, we don't have any kind of competence, we can only cling to the families of the victims".

This is the second terrible episode in a few hours: this morning in Punta Tegge, also in La Maddalena, a dinghy carrying a 16-year-old boy crashed on the rocks . In the impact he lost consciousness, transferred with the ambulance first to Olbia then to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari, he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit with a serious head injury after having undergone head surgery.
