A permanent crisis unit to address the problem of bluetongue in Sardinia. The Agriculture Councillor Gianfranco Satta announced it in the Regional Council, where an order of the day was passed unanimously that commits the Council to prepare every possible measure with the aim of containing the epidemic.

A problem, Satta said, "that we have been carrying around for twenty-four years". Even if, he underlined, "we cannot put on the same level the numbers of 2000, that is the tragedy of 300 thousand dead animals, with what is happening in 2024".

However, the numbers in the daily bulletin of the Zooprophylactic Institute are merciless: 27 thousand heads dead since January, 128 thousand infected, more than 3 thousand outbreaks.

The agenda commits the President of the Region and the Councilors for Agriculture and Health to adopt the necessary measures to ensure "the remodulation of the number of veterinarians assigned to each ASL in a manner consistent with the territory of competence and the companies involved". And then, "the commitment to consider the sum of 300 euros per head (for dead animals) and 30 euros per head for lost income to be paid promptly", "the remodulation of a sum to be allocated to the purchase of the insect repellent and the liquidation of what is due for 2022, 2023, 2024. For Gigi Rubiu of Fratelli d'Italia, first signatory of the motion from which the bipartisan agenda arose, "this is a moment of good politics because we all have the problem of the rural and agro-pastoral world at heart".
