Birth center closed in Alghero, committees on alert

Committees alarmed by the closure of the Birth Center and therefore of the Pediatrics department in Alghero. The Sassari Local Health Authority, in fact, has announced that it has to start urgent renovation work which will end in the spring. "We ask ourselves why alternative solutions to closure have not been found, considering that in recent years numerous restructuring interventions have been carried out in the two hospitals of Alghero, with the transfer of departments all within the same hospital structure", write the committees In defense of health and blue bows pink bows.

«So are there other reasons for the closure, i.e. the failure to plan the replacement of retired or transferred medical staff? If these were the reasons for the closure it would represent serious negligence on the part of those responsible for the ASL", continues the statement. The fear is that the interventions could take a long time, as has already happened in the past.

«We therefore represent the strong concerns of all the women who to date turn to the Pediatrics department of Alghero and ask the Management of the Local Health Authority to make public the timetable regarding the execution and completion of the works and the reopening of the Birth Center of Alghero », closes the note from the committees.
