Revolution in viale Trieste in Cagliari. The mayor Paolo Truzzu and the commissioner Alessio Mereu illustrated the preliminary project which involves the transformation of the area between Piazza del Carmine and Viale Sant'Avendrace.

An intervention worth 12 million (6 with municipal funds 6 with Pon Metro) which covers an area of 36,500 square meters and a 1.3 kilometer long road axis.

A redevelopment with the aim of making the area more livable: new lighting, streets and sidewalks, more areas for citizens without restrictions and architectural barriers, sacrificing some parking spaces.

Two roundabouts at the intersection of via Pola and at the intersection of viale Trieste, via Trento and viale Sant'Avendrace, with the reorganization of the parking spaces. More spaces for pedestrians with the insertion of a cycle path, the transformation of the pavement and new elements of street furniture. The lighting will change completely, not the roads in the area, while the trees will be kept “and integrated”.

Works divided into two lots. For the first, from piazza del Carmine to the intersection with via Pola the start of the works is scheduled for September 2022 with testing in December 2023, the design will be completed by next April. For the second battle from via Pola to viale Sant'Avendrace, design always by April 2022, work commenced in December 2022 and testing in March 2024.

On the parking front, which will be considerably reduced with the start of the works, the municipality reassures that those in via Magistris and via Sauro will soon come into operation: "It will take a little patience and some sacrifices", said the mayor.
