Big party in Bidonì last Saturday for Pasquale Zaru's 100th birthday. Celebrating it, alongside relatives and friends, was the entire town led by the mayor. And then a representative of the Municipality of Sorradile, his hometown, the Marshal of the Sorradile Carabinieri and the retired Carabinieri Association arrived from the Norbello section.

Having been widowed for three years, Pasquale Zaru is still very lucid. He had four children (Giovannina, Francesco, Salvatore and Andreina) and has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As a young man he worked as a miner in Belgium for three years and then, upon returning to the island, he worked a lifetime in the countryside as a shepherd. His great pride is that he managed to buy a house and have his children study starting from nothing.

As a boy, after the premature death of his father, he worked for his family. Among his passions are Sardinian poetry and recounting his past life, in particular the years spent in Belgium. Two plaques were donated for him by the municipal administrations of Bidonì and Sorradile and by the Carabinieri Association.
