When we talk about artistic craftsmanship in Sardinia richly inlaid chests and furniture immediately come to mind. After the workshops dedicated to the processing of glass, ceramics and cork, wood is now the protagonist material of the weekend in the Tavolara Pavilion in Sassari. The laboratory for working and carving wood is completely free and organized by Confartigianato Sassari , with the collaboration of "Wandering Minds".
Under the guidance of the master craftsman of Gavoi Domenico Cugusi, on Saturdays from 16.30 to 20 and on Sundays from 10.30 to 12, adults and children, who under 10 must be accompanied, will be able to learn about the various types of wood, draw figures, use the tools to dig the material and finish the various processes.
In the wood carving workshop, even the most unknown operations of the carver's profession will be revealed, such as knowledge of engraving techniques, the behavior of wood subjected to cutting, the concentration of the professional and above all the handling of the very few necessary tools.
The activity program of the " Salone delle Botteghe " will continue in the coming weeks with workshop appointments and cultural and exhibition initiatives.
Both floors of the Tavolara Pavilion will be open to visitors thanks to the Open Monuments event.
