What does "Bogau a son'e corru" mean? Gianni Zanata explains the origins of the expression.

Literally it means: “Thrown out at the sound of the horn” , and the roots go down in history. It is a saying born when, starting from the end of the fifteenth century, the Spaniards lived in the Cagliari district of Castello.

At the time the commoners could stay inside the walls until eight in the evening, the time when the horns were blown as a signal that the curfew hour had arrived.

Those who did not go out within the established and imposed time were caught and thrown from the walls of Santa Croce, facing certain death.
