Baunei: Ropes too short: Suspended in the void at Punta Plummare while abseiling from a rock face

A Roman couple had a mishap at Punta Plummare , along the Baunei coast. Yesterday afternoon, the pair—he, 42, and she, 40—were attempting to abseil down a rock face but were unable to complete the task, perhaps due to the limited length of the ropes.

At that point, they were left hanging and had to call for help . Firefighters from Tortolì, colleagues from the SAF (Italian Fire Rescue Service) in Nuoro, Cagliari, and Sassari, and personnel from the Nuoro Guardia di Finanza Alpine Rescue team arrived on the scene late yesterday evening. Once rescued, late at night, the two were accompanied to the parking lot leading to Cala Sisine, where they had left their car .
