Giada Piras , a student from Alghero who graduated from Ipsar “Emilio Lussu” with a score of 98, leads the ranking of students deserving of provincial Avis checks. She has donated blood 28 times and today she was awarded in the auditorium of the Ipia Institute in Alghero , together with the other young people who arrived from all over the Province.

Out of 20 scholarships awarded by the provincial Avis, 18 went to young people who graduated from high school in Alghero. Another 16 checks were distributed by the municipal office to as many deserving students.

The regional president of Avis Vincenzo Dore , the provincial of Sassari Antonio Dettori and the manager of the Alghero office, Giorgio Landi , were present at the handover ceremony. Also present were the mayor Mario Conoci , the councilor Giovanna Caria and Giuliano Casula , historic president of Algherese Avis. The announcement consists in rewarding the graduates who have achieved the highest score resulting from the sum of the high school grade with the number of blood donations.

In Alghero in 2022 about 80 young people underwent 180 donations. Compared to 2021, the year closed with a 30 percent increase. But that's not enough. "We still import 30,000 bags of blood into the island," President Dore said. "We are not yet self-sufficient." Antonio Dettori, provincial president, invited students to continue with good practices, recalling that there are also checks for graduates.

«The result of this project was very satisfactory , both for the students' adhesion, about 80 out of 180 donations - said the president of Alghero Giorgio Landi - and for the commitment made by the teachers and volunteers who accompanied and assisted the students".
