No crime committed by the mayor of Olbia, Settimo Nizzi, in the former Ferrotel case.
This morning, prosecutor Antonio Piras asked for the acquittal of the mayor accused of an episode that occurred in Sassari in the spring of 2021. Nizzi had been reported for events that occurred in the office of the bankruptcy trustee of the company XI srl.
The crime is that of bid-rigging, Nizzi allegedly tried to discourage the competitors, saying, during the auction, that the Municipality would not allow any intervention on the former Ferrotel, a dilapidated structure in the center of the Gallura city.
The Municipality of Olbia was interested in the property, which it then actually purchased, for an urban redevelopment project.
The prosecutor Antonio Piras excluded the crime of disturbance of the judicial auction. Nizzi's defenders, Sergio Milia and Pietro Carzedda, also concluded their speeches explaining that Nizzi had no intention of influencing the auction, but simply communicated the constraints that weighed on the area.
The defense argued that there was no subjective element in the crime of bid-rigging. The conduct carried out was certainly not intended to impede or disturb the auction, which was held and concluded regularly.
The sentence of the criminal judge of Sassari Paolo Bulla is expected for June 6.
