In Orgosolo, the hunt is on for those responsible for the attack carried out on Thursday afternoon against the cars of the Icm workers of Vicenza engaged in the construction of the Cumbidanovu dam . The workers were on their lunch break and their cars were riddled with bullets from AK47s.
"I express my solidarity with the workers engaged in the Cumbidanovu construction site who yesterday were the object of a serious act of intimidation - says Councilor Antonio Piu - A few days after the delivery of the works, of this infrastructure project so important for Sardinia, a vile act was committed against the entire community, against all Sardinians - these are the words of the Councilor for Public Works after the shots were fired at the cars of the Icm workers - While waiting for clarity on this episode, which could have had much more serious consequences, I strongly condemn this act of intimidation and express my total closeness to the workers of the company ".
Reactions also from the union. "We firmly condemn the vile act of intimidation committed against the workers and the Icm company of Vicenza engaged in the construction site of the Cumbidanovu dam" says the regional secretary of Fillea Cgil Erika Collu in reference to the very serious and unscrupulous episode that occurred yesterday afternoon in the countryside of Orgosolo "which only by a miracle had no consequences for the safety of the people".
Fillea Cgil hopes that those responsible will be identified as soon as possible and asks for an urgent roundtable to be convened at the Prefecture with the aim of identifying the actions necessary to guarantee the safety of those who work, the company and the entire population . The union expresses solidarity with the company - which last August had already been the victim of another criminal episode with the burning of an excavator - and closeness and support to the workers who carry out their activity in an essential work that has been at a standstill for thirty years and which only a few days ago had restarted with the awarding of the contract to the company under attack.
"The aim is not only the safety of the workers and the company's activity - added the secretary - but also the serenity of an entire community that certainly cannot live under the blackmail of a few criminals who must be firmly isolated so that they can no longer cause harm to the community".
The union hopes that the company will move forward quickly, as it has already begun to do, in completing the work within the expected timeframe.
