State of agitation for 23 workers employed with the ASL of Sassari in the field of livestock registry. It is the Ugl union that sheds light on a situation that risks, from January 1, 2025, sending workers employed by the Company for twenty years out of work.

What made everything worse, last April, was the decision of the regional offices to refuse the contract, declaring it “illegitimate”, which concerned precisely the 19 workers from Sassari and the 4 operating in Olbia. According to Cagliari, the tender is unacceptable because that type of activity should be carried out by company personnel and not external as in this case. Furthermore, since there is no regional price list, the breeders would not pay anything for the services provided. The tasks of the 23 fall within those concerning animal health, food hygiene, export certificates and canine registry.

Fundamental tasks that are concentrated in counter activities, and in assistance to veterinarians, aimed at managing farms, issuing pink slips that allow their movement but with a focus also on slaughter, in slaughterhouses or not, and in sampling on animals. A knowledge that now, however, could disappear despite the interest in the issue of some regional councilors.

And in this absence of decisions, the workers see the deadline of the extension, December 31, 2024, given by the Region to their employment approaching with the danger that the delegations given by the breeder will pass to representative associations not willing to hire the employees. And the state of agitation called by the Ugl will be followed by the cooling-off table, a prelude to a possible strike, unless good news comes from the next meetings scheduled shortly.
