The directors of the health companies fired by the Todde council are packing their bags and filing appeals. With the resolution approved on Sunday, the commissioners are arriving, and the current managers appointed by the previous governor and accused of various shortcomings - in short, "not very collaborative on the serious critical issues of the system", said councilor Bartolazzi - must leave (almost all of them) before their contracts expire, therefore, approximately nine months early. An exit that will certainly generate a series of lawsuits with requests for compensation for lost salaries, roughly, it is calculated to be something like 3 million euros in total.

The compensations

Those interested are already turning to lawyers. In each ASL, the triad formed by the general director, health director and administrative director receives approximately 400 thousand euros gross per year, the appointments were made in January 2022 and had a duration of five years. In short, several paychecks will be missing from the roll call.

"In this way the Council is exposing the Region to a double risk", underlines Umberto Ticca, regional councilor of the Reformers, "on the one hand the probable cancellation of the law for illegitimacy (the challenge by the Council of Ministers will take place in the next few hours, ed.), on the other, the dispute with the removed general directors, with possible compensations that would fall on the public coffers".

The farewell

Marcello Tidore, director general of the ASL of Cagliari, wrote a farewell letter to his colleagues, drawing a positive balance of the work carried out and making "one last recommendation: do not fall into the trap of those who want at all costs to represent healthcare as a disaster on all fronts. You are working very well ... Public healthcare is one of the pillars of our democracy, and the ASL of Cagliari for Sardinia is its foundation".
