Since March 5, 26 OSS have been camped out under the Regional Council in Cagliari, an extreme gesture because they are excluded from the priority stabilization of the ASL 8. Today, some of them have started a hunger strike: an extreme gesture, after ten nights spent in the open, to draw attention to the seriousness of their situation and to underline how urgent intervention is necessary. The decision had already been anticipated in the past few days, now it has become reality.

"Every day that passes without a solution, the situation becomes more tragic," is the alarm cry of Gianfranco Angioni, spokesperson for the committee of 26 OSS. "This appeal to political responsibility is fundamental, since the conditions of these operators are not comparable to other precarious situations. The OSS involved are not simple candidates: they are already part of a priority hiring ranking from 2023 carried out according to national and regional law, they deserve attention, respect and support. It is not acceptable that someone without their rights replaces them."

Angioni points out that "the ongoing health crisis and the shortage of these figures within hospitals has highlighted the importance of figures such as oss, essential and irreplaceable in the care system". For this reason, the spokesperson continues, " the time has come for institutions to listen to their requests and act promptly, ensuring the stabilization of those who have seen their jobs stolen and have carried out their duties with professionalism and passion".

The social health workers have made a new appeal to the regional government. "Time is running out and any further delay risks worsening the drama irreversibly," concludes Angioni. " We need to stop talking and find a solution to this critical situation and provide concrete answers to the 26 health workers , not leaving them alone in this battle."
