In the church of San Giovanni Battista in Arzana the community gathered for the funeral of Mino Marongiu, who turned 52 last Saturday and was killed on Tuesday morning with 9 gunshots in the central Piazza Roma. At 5.50pm today the coffin, wrapped in a cushion of roses and lilies, crossed the entrance where the parish priest, Don Michele Congiu, was there to welcome it. Family members, friends and a crowd of fellow citizens were present.
"Whoever killed Mino usurped the right that belongs only to God", said Don Congiu during the short homily.
Mino Marongiu was killed with nine gunshots, the last of which on the left temple which disfigured him: «Who knows if Mino - added the priest, immediately after reading the Gospel of Matthew - if he had a thought for God in those moments of horror."
