The works for the construction of the interconnection system of the water distribution network of the Consorzio di Bonifica della Gallura, in the territory of Arzachena , and the municipal treatment plant that currently discharges water into the sea were delivered. After the first step, the precious resource will be recovered and destined for agricultural use .

The works were awarded, for a total of 1 million and 660 thousand euros , for the first lot that will allow the systems to be interconnected and bring the recovered water to approximately 60 hectares of agricultural land . The second step will allow the infrastructure of a distribution network in the Surrau area, thus serving 200 hectares of high agricultural potential. In addition, the presence in the area is increased, it is protected from fires because the water distribution network will be set up with fire-fighting water outlets.

“A great result”, comments the president of the Gallura Reclamation Consortium Marco Marrone . “We launched the tender in July - he explains -, and now with the award we plan to complete the first lot in five months. In this way we give concrete answers to a territory in strong agricultural development, suited to the production of a product of excellence: Vermentino Docg and to cattle breeding ”.

The project amounts to a total of 7 and a half million euros, is divided into three lots, with the first being financed by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia through the Department of Agriculture which awarded the funds in 2020.

Roberto Ragnedda , mayor of Arzachena, underlines how this important result is the “fruit of a close collaboration between the Municipality and the Reclamation Consortium”.
