Today ends the three days of strike of the signatures of the editors of the Rai regional newspaper, announced on 3 October by a press release from Usigrai, the union of public service journalists, which yesterday claimed very high rates of participation in the protest. The abstention from signing had been announced - with a reference to the story of the journalist Ignazio Artizzu - against " the inappropriateness of some recent appointments. In particular, the recent promotion to editor-in-chief of a journalist who, until 45 days earlier, held the position of head of the press office of the Sardinia Region. A choice that puts the credibility, authority and independence of Rai's information at risk. A few months before the regional elections."

At the end of the regional editions throughout Italy, a video statement was also broadcast, clarifying the reasons for the protest and accusing the company of "an unprecedented event"

Usigrai defined Rai's response as "Pilatesque and short-sighted", namely that "the company structure responsible for anti-corruption "did not recognize a conflict of interest in the absence of overlapping roles"" and announced: "From the meeting a strong response comes from the Tgr cdr to the interference of parties and politics in the public service: the journalists of Tgr claim and defend their autonomy and independence". In the news the reading of the press release was followed by the response of the management of the newspaper: the appointment «was carried out on the basis of a transparent selection procedure which responds to the criteria and contractual rules and with respect to which no profile of incompatibility or of conflict of interest. As always , regional information will be based on the utmost respect for the principles of autonomy, plurality, impartiality and authority that characterize the public radio and television service".
