On Saturday 27 August, at 4 pm in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, Pope Francis will preside over the Consistory for the creation of the new cardinals. Among them also the archbishop emeritus of Cagliari ,   Monsignor Arrigo Miglio .

The rite provides for the imposition of the cardinal's hat and the assignment of the "title", which originally corresponded to the oldest churches in Rome. The new cardinal will take possession of the assigned office in the following months .

At the end of the rite, courtesy visits begin at 6 pm during which it is possible to spend time with the new cardinals for a moment of good wishes.

On the morning of Sunday 28 August , at 12, in the papal basilica of San Paolo fuori le mura , Arrigo Miglio will celebrate his first mass as a cardinal , while the first Eucharistic celebration in Sardinia is scheduled for Sunday 2 October at 19, in the cathedral of Cagliari .

Among the most significant positions of Miglio that of vicar general of Ivrea, national assistant of Agesci, bishop of Iglesias, of his own diocese of origin and finally archbishop of Cagliari.
