In the Maffei Sarda Silicati quarry in Cuccurumannu, between Orani and Sarule, fear returns. During the night between Sunday and Monday , two armed bandits threatened the security guard at the quarry, tying him up and damaging the work vehicles . An intimidating act that comes after a relative moment of calm: in recent years Maffei had already been the subject of heavy attacks, with vehicles set on fire and hundreds of thousands of euros in damage.

After the intimidating act on Sunday night, Maffei Sarda Silicati will block its activities for three weeks and place all workers on redundancy pay. This was stated by the President, Federico Emilio Fiorelli. A choice that society is forced to make due to the damage inflicted by an act that society defines as vile and gratuitous. The stoppage of activities will lead to the redundancy of the staff working on the construction site.

«There are no words to describe the sense of helplessness and anger that pervades our team at this moment, - states the President -. These individuals - continues Federico Emilio Fiorelli, - in addition to having made an act contrary to every principle of legality and common sense, have damaged the local economy by stopping a healthy and ethical company that operates with passion in the Sardinian territory . Also in this case, as in the December 2021 attack also suffered by MSS, no claims were made."

An act that Confindustria Nuoro Ogliastra condemns with its president Giovanni Bitti: «On my personal behalf and that of the entire Association I express the utmost condemnation for the serious act of intimidation that has once again affected our associated company Maffei Sarda Silicati. Our full solidarity and closeness go to the company, its owners, the director and all the staff and collaborators. It is yet another criminal episode against a local company, a very serious act which has no justification and which does not help create the right climate for doing business. These are acts that we can no longer accept and which undermine the freedom of enterprise by attempting to influence the activity of those who have been creating employment and well-being in this area for decades with seriousness, correctness and professionalism. This is a very bad sign for our communities. What happened represents serious damage to everyone, contributing to creating an uncomfortable climate contrary to business activity, even more so in a difficult phase like the one we are going through with worsening prospects. A collective effort is needed to isolate and identify the authors of such vile and ignoble gestures and guarantee the company the possibility of continuing to carry out its activity in a climate of legality and safety."

In previous years, Maffei had also stopped production for six days. A position taken together with that taken by three united municipal councils, Orani, Ottana and Sarule, which evidently has not stopped the logic of those who want to use abuse and violence to impose terror.
