Aritzo, Sa Casa crossing burns: Canadair and SuperPuma in flight
Hectares of bushland on fire, several homes and the Su Pranu pine forest at risk. Highway 295 closed near the fireBig fire in Aritzo, where a large blaze is affecting several hectares of bushland, near the "Sa Casa" pass.
The flames, which started in the late morning, close to state road 295, are involving teams on the ground of the Forestry Corps together with three helicopters that left from the bases of Sorgono and Fenosu (Super Puma). Two Canadairs from Olbia are also operational. A third, however, is operating between Nuoro and Orune where the fire started in Sa Serra. The “Su Pranu” pine forest and several homes of former Etfas assignees are in danger. In the meantime, many farmers in the area have fled, threatened by the flames.
The section of the 295 near the fire has been closed to traffic to facilitate fire extinguishing operations, traffic should resume in the evening.
