He had been trapped for hours, perhaps days, in a tangled mess of barbed wire, cables and abandoned fishing nets in the Arbus area . Attempts to free himself had been in vain: the deer had remained stuck in the Mediterranean scrub on the border with the Capo Frasca Range.

It was the intervention of the men of the Forestry Corps who freed him from the trap, who yesterday morning, during a patrol service for the protection of the coast, had noticed an unusual movement among the bushes. Approaching for a check , the Forestry officers identified a male deer in evident difficulty. From the very beginning his condition led to the assumption that he had been trapped for a long time, given the numerous wounds and marks on his body, in addition to the symptoms of strong stress .

Given the emergency situation, the Forestry Department decided to proceed with the immediate release . After temporarily immobilizing the specimen by its hind legs, they carefully removed the materials wrapped around the antler. The operation was successfully completed around 10:30: the deer, having ascertained its general good condition, moved away autonomously, returning freely to its habitat.
