The decree on areas suitable for renewables, recently rewritten by the government and on Parliament's agenda for conversion into law, must be blocked immediately.

The appeal comes from the committees supporting Pratobello 24 (the bill that received the support of over 210,000 Sardinians) to the parliamentarians elected on the island.

The committees' spokesperson, Orgosolo Mayor Pasquale Mereu, sees a real risk of a flood of permits potentially causing serious damage to the area.

According to the committees, the Government has disregarded the guidelines of the enabling law, failing to respect the powers and prerogatives of the regions with special statutes.

Meanwhile, a national mobilization against energy speculation has begun in Sardinia: 300 mayors from north to south, including the islands, are involved.
