Anti-poaching operation in the park of Gutturu Mannu, an elderly man from Capoterra reported

Anti-poaching operation for the protection of the Gutturu Mannu Park.

A 78-year-old from Capoterra was reported for birding by the staff of the Forestry station of Uta after being caught in the act while capturing two thrushes with the snare method in Is Olias. The elder had prepared a path (andara) through the bush, in which they were   stay   place about a thousand traps.

Following the house search, another 56 birds were recovered, already plucked and ready to be sold.   The thrushes and traps have been impounded . Bird-trapping is a crime punishable by up to one year's imprisonment.   

The operation was completed also thanks to the collaboration of some citizens who reported the illegal activity.
