The Municipality of Sinnai today named a square after financier Luigi Moi. The initiative honored the sacrifice of the soldier, born in 1943 and killed on October 1, 1965, at just 22 years old, while fighting smuggling on the Italian-Swiss border. The young soldier lost his life in the Albano River, in the municipality of Garzeno (CO), while chasing a smuggler in the dark after he had already seized a shipment of illegal goods. During the ceremony, a wreath was laid in his honor in the square named after him. Brothers Marciano and Salvatore Moi were also present, welcomed by the community and a delegation from the local ANFI chapter.

"With the laying of the stone and the commemorative plaque," said Mayor Barbara Pusceddu, "Sinnai is handing over to present and future generations a place that is not just an urban space, but an educational center: an invitation to reflect on the value of duty, sacrifice, and legality. When our young people read the name Luigi Moi, they will know that their freedom rests on the courage of those who served the State to the ultimate sacrifice."

In his speech, General Cutarelli recalled how the sacrifice of Finance Police Officer Moi still represents an example of loyalty, dedication to duty, and a spirit of service today. These values are a point of reference for all members of the Guardia di Finanza, especially for the young Finance Police officers called upon to carry on his legacy of service and dedication to duty.
