Another 100 migrants transferred from the Peninsula to the port of Cagliari
After the health checks they will be distributed between Sinnai, Quartu and other centers. In Monastir exceeded 500 guests
Another hundred migrants arrived this morning at the port of Cagliari : coming from centers on the Peninsula, by order of the Ministry of the Interior they traveled aboard a liner to be transferred to Sardinia, where they will be welcomed in various facilities.
The last applicants for international protection had landed on the island on 30 August: that day there had been 120.
This morning a camp was set up on the dock for the very first reception, consisting of identification and health checks. At work there were teams from the Civil Protection and the Red Cross, as well as staff from the local health authority and Caritas.
Sixty foreigners, among the new arrivals, will go to the gym in Via Olimpia in Sinnai, made available by the Municipality. Others will be housed in a CAS managed by Caritas in Quartu: it is not yet known if there are further destinations.
What is certain is that the circuit in Sardinia risks not being able to withstand the impact. The Government has changed the rules for the distribution of immigrants between the various regions: to determine the percentages now no longer only the proportion with the resident population is important (the Island was entitled to 3% of the total applicants for protection present on national soil), but the territorial extension has also been added. And Sardinia is big. In the meantime, however, all the Prefectures' calls for the search for associations or bodies available to organize the reception have been deserted .
A shortage which in recent days has led the Viminale office in Piazza Palazzo, Cagliari, to contact the mayors to ask for the availability of gyms where beds and first emergency shelters can be set up.
In Monastir, however, the CPA explodes: according to unconfirmed data, there are currently over 500 foreigners, compared to a much lower capacity. «Now I don't know, but these were the numbers in recent weeks», explains the mayor Luisa Murru, «so far no public order problems have been recorded. Let's hope it continues like this."
