He holds out his hand for a shake. He says: "Hi, do you remember? We did the live broadcast together." The other pretends not to notice. Then he adds: "You don't even look at me in the face." And, politely, he gives way. He is Sergio Seche. And it is one of the reasons why the animal rights activist Enrico Rizzi arrived in Cagliari this afternoon to hold a rally in Piazza Yenne: he comes from the town of the camel Rodolfo, who during the Ovodda Carnival was seen walking through the streets of the town, among masks and sheepskins placed on a tarpaulin.
A scandal that even led to a complaint to the police, for Rizzi. Today at the foot of the obelisk in front of the statue of Carlo Felice he was greeted by a few dozen adoring fans, who reserved a chorus and applause for him when he got out of the car that took him to shout his theses into the microphone. Around him, an impressive deployment of police forces. But the alleged "threats" on social media did not translate into concrete actions. And Rizzi, as was to be expected, was able to say what he wanted: "We are here to remember all the people who lost their lives to save animals. On the other side we have the people who enjoy killing animals", he attacked. "You have not been intimidated by four cowards behind the computer", said Rizzi, addressing his audience, "you are the best part, you are the good people of Sardinia".
But the animal rights activist doesn't just have it in for the Sardinians. He has it in for all human beings: "We are the most ferocious and disgusting race that exists in the world, I hope the human being becomes extinct and frees this planet."
"What happened in Ovodda," he recalls, "should not be hidden and it happens in a lot of municipalities. Animals are humiliated, mocked and mistreated just for the stupid amusement of human beings."
Then an attack on the president of the Region Alessadra Todde who would be guilty, according to him, of not having taken him into consideration while she railed against the Carnival of the Island, announcing complaints and reports. The same attitude adopted by the police chief and the prefect of Nuoro, of whom he had asked for immediate resignations.
For Rizzi in Cagliari there is an adoring public: "There are so many of us," he says, addressing the sparse lines. The boys from Ovodda have sat at the bar, nearby.
