Alleged abuse of a two-year-old girl: Cagliari, after a year and a half in prison, is acquitted

Acquitted because "the fact does not exist" after having spent more than a year and a half in prison.

Today a 23-year-old Nigerian has returned to freedom in Cagliari on whom the horrible accusation of sexual acts on a two-year-old girl hangs.

The young man, who has always declared himself innocent, was acquitted in the first instance.

The story dates back to May 2020. The boy, a guest in a shelter with other foreigners, including the alleged victim's mother and little brother, took care of the children in the structure, looking after them and following them.

It was the child's mother who suspected the abuse: she took her daughter to the hospital, where she remained under observation, and after a few days she reported the 23-year-old who was arrested.

He immediately said he was innocent and asked without obtaining a modification of the precautionary measure through the lawyer Maria Gabriella Pirisi.

The alleged victim was heard by the investigators only in December 2021 (a year and a half after the events) and during the protected hearing he said he did not remember anything. Today the acquittal and the newfound freedom, after more than 18 months in prison.
