Everything is ready for World Refugee Day 2025, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 19 June starting at 9 pm, at the foot of the Aragonese Tower of Porto Torres, in Piazza Colombo, which will be the backdrop to a rich musical evening to celebrate the values of hospitality, solidarity and human rights.

The protagonist of the event, born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Turritano, Arci Mediterraneo and the CCN Botteghe Turritane, will be the formation Roy Paci & Aretuska with their explosive mix of Mediterranean sounds, energy and social commitment.

The event is one of the stops on the "Live Love & Dance" tour with which the Sicilian artist and his band are crossing all of Italy, bringing on stage their irresistible sound made of jazz, reggae, funk and traditional Sicilian sounds.

The aftershow will follow with the DJ set by Forelock & King Textone that will close the evening in an atmosphere of celebration, rhythm and sharing. World Refugee Day was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 4, 2001 to recognize the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of people forced to flee their homes and their countries because of war, violence, persecution, violations of human rights and, increasingly, the effects of climate change. It is celebrated every year on June 20, but the initiatives also extend to the days before and after with events and initiatives all over the world.

For the occasion, events are organized to raise public awareness of the conditions of refugees, asylum seekers and displaced persons. Today more than ever, World Refugee Day invites us to look beyond geographical and mental borders, reminding us that each person has a story to tell and a future to rebuild. Arci Mediterraneo manages the Sai- Reception and Integration System- project on behalf of the Municipality of Porto Torres, which has been active in the area for about ten years. The project currently welcomes 42 beneficiaries, mainly from Afghanistan, Syria, the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa. These are adults and minors involved in work, school and training integration paths that constitute a virtuous model of reception and social integration. Furthermore, the social enterprise and the municipal administration actively collaborate to promote initiatives and events dedicated to raising awareness on the issues of migration, integration and human rights. This year, with the concert on June 19, we want to use the universal language of music to give new impetus and visibility to the identity of the project, strengthening the message of a community, the Turritan one, historically open and supportive.
