It was thanks to the report of a private citizen that in recent days the soldiers of the Alghero Coast Guard managed to catch illegal fishermen in the act who were hoarding sea urchins.

The prized echinoderms were seized and thrown back into the sea, while unauthorized fishermen were fined with an administrative fine of one thousand euros.
Last Monday, however, the intervention carried out along the stretch of coast in front of Fertilia where the staff of the CP 559 patrol boat found and seized drifting fishing equipment, about 200 meters from the shoreline. The military proceeded to reclaim the area by recovering 20 cylindrical pots with iron and plastic armor and a net of about 300 meters which by now had become real traps and represented a threat to fauna and the marine environment.
