Convicted of stealing electricity by illegally connecting to the condominium meter. The episode took place inside a building in via Perpignan in Alghero.

The judge of the Court of Sassari, Elena Barmina, imposed a sentence of seven months in prison, in addition to the payment of a fine of € 300 plus court costs, against a 36-year-old woman of Hungarian origin.

The partner, on the other hand, was acquitted for not having committed the crime, a 60-year-old man from Sassari initially accused of the same crime.

The disputed facts came to light in 2016, after the condominium administrator's complaint, when the couple was accused of having profited by taking possession of electricity, through an abusive connection, to power their apartment. A value of about 86 kilowatts which cannot be determined exactly in the amount to be paid.

The anomalous consumption of electricity had been achieved by tampering with the cap of the condominium meter, hooking the electric cables of the apartment with other connections of other houses. Therefore the prosecutor had asked for the sentence of both to imprisonment and to pay a fine of 300 thousand euros. This penalty was then inflicted only on the woman.
