The death of fish in the Calich lagoon, the Alghero pond affected by monitoring and control of the body of water by the Porto Conte Park, has not gone unnoticed.

Fish, especially mullets, washed up on the shoreline, with stench wafting along the length of the beach.

In recent days, the institution's biologists have intervened on site to carry out sampling, in close collaboration with their colleagues from Arpas, with whom the Porto Conte Park has recently signed a memorandum of understanding for the reading and interpretation of data coming from the multi-parameter probe active 24/7 in the Calich lagoon for the analysis of the chemical-physical parameters of the water.

From an initial instrumental check, no anoxic crisis due to the lack of oxygen in the pond's water mirror was detected. However, some autopsy investigations should be carried out by the ASL, which took some samples assisted by the staff of the forestry station and transmitted them to the zooprophylactic institute. We are therefore waiting for the results of the analyses to have more elements to determine the origin of the phenomenon.
