Alghero hospital: "Surgical activity suspended due to lack of doctors"
As of March 10, the president of the Health Commission, Christian Mulas, announced itSurgical activity in the Civil Hospital of Alghero has been suspended starting from 10 March. This was announced by the president of the Health Commission Christian Mulas, explaining that the difficult situation was created due to the lack of surgeons and medical personnel in the ward. «This serious news that has been circulating since February is sanctioned by a document from the health management sent to the director of the SC of Surgery of the Alghero Hospital. The document, descriptive and clear, informs that due to lack of surgeons and medical personnel in the ward, starting from 03/10/2023 the surgical activity and the continuity of care of the ward, emergencies, first aid emergencies and internal emergencies and/or all surgical and non-surgical specialties that operate at the Civil Hospital of Alghero can no longer be guaranteed".
The president of the health council commission says he is worried and asks for the resignation of the general manager of the facility. "The interruption of activity and the temporary closure of the Alghero surgery facility is unacceptable - Mulas declares - we cannot accept this sad slope of the Alghero health system which has been experiencing the drama of uncertainty for too long, today further aggravated by the closure of the surgery and surgical specialties. The Alghero hospital is constantly in an emergency. And now it is necessary to divert patients who need surgery to other hospitals. It is clear that there is a political design that wants to downgrade the Alghero health system to strengthen other realities, the responsibilities for this failure are attributed to those who do not have a clear planning of territorial medicine who, like a good armchair anthropologist, do not know the territorial health system. We ask ourselves after this failure why the Director General does not mea culpa and resigns?
