A night of heavy rains severely impacted the countryside of Alghero, with widespread flooding in the areas north and south of the city, particularly towards Valverde, Punta Moro, and Mamuntanas. The heavy rainfall, concentrated in just a few hours, caused difficulties for rural traffic and necessitated numerous rescue and monitoring operations. The Barracelli (security officers) of Alghero remained at work throughout the night, monitoring the most exposed roads and collaborating with law enforcement to ensure safety. Five cars went off the road due to slippery surfaces caused by water and mud; the occupants were rescued by rural police, without serious injuries. Several road sections were temporarily closed or regulated with barriers and guards, while monitoring of critical points prone to stagnant water and runoff continued. Operations primarily focused on farm access roads and secondary roads, which are more vulnerable in the event of severe weather events. As weather conditions gradually improved, the situation is slowly returning to normal. Teams remain operational for monitoring and any safety measures required, while residents are urged to exercise caution when traveling, especially in rural areas.
