«The chapel of the civil hospital of Alghero has never been closed».

The management of the ASL of Sassari responds to the statements of the municipal councilor of the Municipality of Alghero, Alberto Bamonti, who in recent days had launched an appeal inviting the hospital to find a solution to guarantee the reopening of the small place of worship .

"It was never the intention of this Management to close the place of worship, on the fourth floor of the Catalan hospital. Currently , some adaptation works are being completed, but access has never been closed to the faithful who, in fact, will soon be able to count on a new chapel ."

In agreement with the Curia, the ASL of Sassari, given the changed needs of the hospital structure, has begun work on the construction of changing rooms for the staff of the Internal Medicine and General Surgery Service, which have led to the downsizing of the chapel.

The Management of the ASL of Sassari specifies that, as foreseen by the project for the renovation of the hospital structure and by the financing for Development and Cohesion, «the construction of a new place of worship is planned in the vicinity of the Mortuary in the basement of the structure in via Don Minzoni, with direct access also from the outside».
